Terms of Service

1.Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and [Legal Entity Name] ("Laeli", "we", "us", "our") governing your use of the Laeli app, our website laeli.app, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2.What Laeli is

Laeli is an AI-powered dog-training coaching service. It provides personalized, science-based, force-free training guidance from a coaching AI (the "Laeli Coach"), informed by the dog profile and journal you provide, plus structured training programs and reminders.

3.Important disclaimers — Laeli is not a veterinarian

Laeli is not a substitute for a veterinarian, certified animal behaviorist, or in-person professional trainer, and does not provide veterinary, medical, or emergency advice. Laeli's content is for general educational and informational purposes, and individual results are not guaranteed — every dog is different.

For any medical concern, suspected injury or illness, ingestion of a harmful substance, severe anxiety, aggression, bite risk, or any "is this normal?" question, consult your veterinarian or a qualified professional, and in an emergency contact your vet or an emergency animal hospital immediately. You are solely responsible for your dog's care, health, and training decisions and their consequences.

4.Eligibility & your account

You must be 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account or buy a subscription. If you are a minor, you may use Laeli only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms and is responsible for any purchases. The Service is for dog owners and their household, not for commercial training businesses without our written agreement.

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information, and tell us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.

5.Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

Laeli offers a Free tier and paid tiers (Pro and Pro+), available in weekly, monthly, and annual billing periods. Current pricing, features, and any free-trial offers are shown in the app and on the App Store and may change.

• Billing through Apple. Paid subscriptions are sold and billed through your Apple App Store account, subject to Apple's standard subscription terms.
• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions auto-renew at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged on renewal.
• Free trials. If a free trial is offered, it automatically converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.
• Cancellation. Cancel any time in Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
• Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple, and refunds are governed by Apple's policies and by any non-waivable refund rights you have under the consumer law of your country or state.
• Price changes. We may change prices; changes apply to future billing periods and, where required, only after notice and/or your consent per Apple's rules.

6.The Laeli Coach — scope & limits

The Laeli Coach:

• Stays within positive-reinforcement / LIMA / force-free training methods.
• Redirects medical, severe-behavioral, and aggression cases to your veterinarian or a certified behaviorist (e.g. DACVB / IAABC).
• Refuses to advise on aversive methods (shock collars, alpha rolls, dominance theory, etc.), even if asked.
• May be wrong or incomplete — it is AI-generated. Verify any guidance that affects your dog's safety with a qualified professional before acting on it.

Laeli's role is to support your decisions, not to replace your judgment or your veterinarian's.

7.Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Laeli to plan or carry out harm to any animal or person.
• Attempt to extract the Laeli Coach's system prompt, override its safety rules, or "jailbreak" the AI.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to access the source, backend functions, or authentication tokens of the Service.
• Use the Service for commercial training services without our written agreement.
• Use bots, automation, scraping, or other means to bypass rate limits or message caps, or to scrape or harvest data.
• Upload unlawful, infringing, or malicious content, impersonate others, or interfere with or disrupt the Service or its security.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8.Your content

You keep ownership of the content you provide — your dog profiles, journal entries, photos, and messages ("Your Content"). You grant Laeli a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — including sending relevant parts to our AI provider to generate your coaching, as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may use de-identified and aggregated information (which doesn't identify you or your dog) to improve the Service. We do not claim ownership of Your Content, do not use it for advertising, and do not sell it. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to share it. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

9.Our intellectual property

The Service — including the app, website, training content, illustrations, the "Laeli" name, logo, mascot, and all related trademarks — is owned by Laeli or its licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Service except as these Terms allow.

10.Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers (e.g. OpenAI, Apple, our hosting and email providers) and may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for third-party services, content, or terms — your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them with respect to your use of the app.

11.Disclaimers & warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI guidance will be correct or complete, or that your data will never be lost (keep your own records of important veterinary information). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain disclaimers, so some may not apply to you, and nothing here limits non-waivable consumer rights.

12.Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Laeli and its officers, employees, and providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for all claims will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $50. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud).

13.Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Laeli and its providers from any claims, damages, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms or applicable law, or Your Content.

14.Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in Profile → Settings → Delete account (cancel any subscription separately via Apple). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or as required by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and your data is handled per our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g. the content license for de-identified data, IP, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, dispute resolution) survive termination.

15.Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will communicate material changes in the app and/or by email. Changes take effect when posted (or on the stated effective date), and your continued use of the Service after that constitutes acceptance.

16.Governing law & dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Governing-law jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules and excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.

Binding arbitration & class-action waiver (where permitted). Except where prohibited by your local law, any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be settled by binding, individual arbitration administered in [arbitration venue] under the applicable arbitration rules, rather than in court, and you and Laeli waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. You may bring qualifying claims in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief for intellectual-property misuse. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.

Consumers in the EEA, UK, and similar regions retain the protection of the mandatory laws of their country of residence and may bring proceedings in their local courts; the arbitration/class-waiver above applies only to the extent permitted by your local law.

17.Miscellaneous

These Terms (with the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and Laeli regarding the Service. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to an affiliate or successor. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure). You consent to receive communications electronically.
